Boson AI, the secretive $70M-backed voice AI lab founded by former AWS AI leads Dr. Alex Smola and Dr. Mu Li, approached BMV in July 2026 ahead of the launch of Higgs Realtime — its first real-time, speech-to-speech model for enterprise voice agents. 

Smola, who wrote the standard textbook on deep learning and holds more than 220,000 research citations, and Li, one of the most-followed AI researchers in the Chinese-speaking world, built the company almost entirely in stealth since 2023, without either founder giving a single media interview. 

That silence created the challenge. To the extent the market didn’t know Boson at all, it only knew it as an open-source text-to-speech provider on Hugging Face.

Campaign: BMV built the company’s public story from zero. That started with narrative development. Boson had deliberately declined to build a large language model, bought its own GPUs rather than renting from the hyperscalers its founders came from, and engineered for cost efficiency in a market defined by scale-at-all-costs spending. BMV solidified that messaging. It then developed the launch blog for its first speech-to-speech model, as well as, a product one-pager, media FAQ, and messaging guidance; prepared both founders for their first press interviews; and ran an exclusive-first embargo strategy across tier-one business press

Results: BMV secured Boson AI’s first-ever feature coverage, led by Fortune, as well as coverage in The Information, The Week in Voice AI, Neuron Daily, while also securing other interviews with the TWIML Podcast, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, and TechCrunch.
