Last month I was fortunate to catch a talk by Andy Raskin. Andy is a CSO, a Chief Storytelling Officer. His clients include startups backed by Andreessen Horowitz and First Round, and he has also led strategic narrative training at Salesforce, Uber, Yelp, VMware and General Assembly. His talk got me thinking about building better startup narratives. We all know the tech press forces narratives on startups based on their lifecycle and momentum (perceived or actual), but is it possible to define your own startup narrative? I believe it is.
EVERY STARTUP HAS A STORY
Increase your brand's value by letting us spread it
With a deep understanding of the startup ecosystem, Beantown Media Ventures (BMV) leverages our expertise in PR and content marketing to help startups in Boston, Los Angeles and across the country grow. Simply put, we ensure your startup story gets heard and engaged with all with an eye towards driving leads, accelerating growth and increasing valuations.
“In addition to supporting us in securing PR, driving inbound leads with content marketing and attracting hiring companies like Facebook to our platform, BMV played a crucial role in enabling us to rapidly distribute our prototypes within the market to analyze scalability.”
– Tom Leung, Director of Product Management, YouTube
“From strategically planning our PR launch out of stealth mode, to positioning us as the most innovative company at the forefront of the indoor location space with our Series A round, and ultimately through our successful exit, BMV was an integral partner in driving ByteLight’s growth.”
– Dan Ryan, Co-Founder & CEO of ByteLight

The “always-on” nature of social media means that conversations are happening around the clock with or without your brand. With a steady stream of branded content fueling your startup marketing efforts, we make sure that you are part of these conversations, whenever and wherever they are taking place.

This past summer we got a chance to sit down and chat with Rachel Braunstein (@rkbraunstein), Marketing Manager for Microsoft’s Partner Network & the host of the Microsoft Partner Network podcast.
On the heels of Microsoft’s annual Ignite conference a few weeks back, we revisit that conversation in the latest episode of the SeedStories Podcast.
With Rachel wearing many hats with her role within the Microsoft Partner Network, we discuss what partner programs within the Redmond giant may be useful for startups, how she has fostered a passionate community of partners and her thoughts on where venture-backed startups should be spending on digital marketing as they start to scale.
